Book is awesome very easy read it was a suggested reading from my professor and very helpful as a supplemental reading. I found it a dumbed down version of our required book and it was useful to use when you needed a simpler way to understand involved concepts very pleased I had it and many other students borrowed it. however my rented which I knew was a used book came so marked up and in bad shape I don't believe it should have been used anymore it was past the point of retirement.Product details

Great book for learning about the heart.
I am an "echo tech" with just 6 months experience under my belt. I have used this book as a reference for accurate "how to" measurments. The text refers to ASE standards and gives not only the novice but also the more experienced tech a reference manual for what to do here. It includes a chapter on m-mode as it is still frequently requested by cardiologists for measurements. It is the only reference that I could find (and I have quite a few) that actually focuses on measurements. In a way this book is the opposite of Terry Reynold's echocardiographer's pocket reference (which I have worn the cover off of) because it focuses on the exam not the findings to diagnose a pathology. It has plenty of pictures including some in color that show correct placement of the caliper markers and tracing envelopes.
I had a scare and thought this book was lost to me. I had to think but a moment to decide that I would repurchase this one. (And I still have a monstrous student loan I am working on)
I purchased this book in Dec. 2011 for the Cardiac Sonography program I began in 2012. This was by far one of my favorite books of all the required texts I purchased. It is a hard cover fancier books and I'd say it's a great deal for the price. Keep in mind most Echo books are very pricey, just comes with the field. However, "Anderson" as we called it, has plenty of images colored images, M-Mode images, as well with very fine detail and easy to see with detailed explanations of each image to understand what you are looking at outside of the text reading (some of the images were used on my exams). The lecture text is explained very well but doesn't "over do it" so you can't understand and loose interest. It is very well put together and covers topics such as 2D, M-Mode, Spectral Doppler, Color Doppler, Basic Hemodynamics, Doppler Quantification and Regurgitant Lesions. The vocabulary is at a perfect level of understanding in my opinion, and once again is an excellent reference for beginners. I also learned other students from different programs were also required to have this text, so I assure you it is one of the best. I have now graduated the Echo Program, and am now an Echocardiographer! As I have all of my books, this one I am definitely keeping for studying for my boards, and for reference in the future, make sure you do the same after purchasing this book!
